Cycling Paths Qatar
Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has completed more than 1,800km of pedestrian and cycling paths in the 2020-2025 period as part of its strategy to develop sustainable mobility and provide safe roads.
The Authority added it has developed for the paths to be implemented within projects to develop highways, main roads and internal roads in order to separate pedestrian and cyclist movement from vehicles, which will improve the levels of traffic safety as well as traffic flow within cities and residential areas. The network consists of shared pedestrian and cycling paths as well as dedicated cycling lanes to guarantee a user experience that is both safe and comfortable, providing the infrastructure needed to promote active and healthy modes of transport.
These accomplishments, according to Ashghal, are the products of an integrated modern road network development that upholds sustainable development goals and contributes positively to the quality of life of citizens and residents alike.
