As the new Ooredoo Stars League season approaches, Qatari clubs are intensifying their preparations with training camps in Europe.

Among them, Al Duhail and Al Sadd have secured victories in friendly matches, while several other clubs are set to face European opponents in the coming days.

On Monday, former champions Al Duhail triumphed over Hungary's Csikszereda with a 3-1 win in a friendly match held in Lebring, Austria, as part of their European training camp. The Red Knights have four more friendlies scheduled, facing Austria's Sturm Graz on July 19, UAE’s Ittihad Kalba on July 24, Saudi Arabia's Al Khaleej on July 28, and Saudi Damac on July 31. Al Duhail will begin their new season against Qatar SC on August 19 at the Khalifa International Stadium.

Also on Monday, reigning Qatar Stars League champions Al Sadd achieved an emphatic 8-0 victory over Manchester 62 from Gibraltar in their first pre-season friendly in Malaga, Spain. Gonzalo Plata scored a hat-trick, Rafa Mujica added two goals, and Abdullah Al Yazidi, Pedro Miguel, and Giovanni Henrique each scored once at the Banus Training Centre.

Meanwhile, Al Ahli are preparing for three friendly matches during their pre-season camp in the Netherlands. They will face the Eindhoven U23 squad on Saturday, UAE’s Al Wasl on July 24, and Belgian club Lommel Sportkring in their final match. Al Ahli will continue their training in Eindhoven until August 2 before returning to Doha for their opening Ooredoo Stars League match against Al Wakrah on August 11 at the Al Janoub Stadium.

Additionally, Al Shamal SC, who are also training in the Netherlands, have announced the appointment of Portuguese coach Nuno Almeida. Almeida, who previously served as an assistant coach at Al Sadd under Jesualdo Ferreira, replaces Swedish coach Poya Asbaghi, who has moved to Al Rayyan.
