Doha: Alfardan Medical with Northwestern Medicine (AMNM), Qatar’s renowned and medically advanced ambulatory care center, recently conducted an innovative fertility preserving operation to remove a uterine polyp, which is usually associated with infertility, heavy menstruation, and anaemia.

The surgical procedure was performed for the first time in Qatar by AMNM’s Reproductive Medicine Physician and Gynaecologist, Dr. Guy Fender to minimize the surgical impact on the cervix and the uterine lining.

The minimally invasive technique used increases spontaneous and In vitro Fertilization (IVF) treated pregnancy success and reduces the risk of premature delivery. The value of this approach allows surgeons to avoid damaging the uterine lining caused by traditional techniques which are associated with thermal or physical trauma.

Associate Professor and Medical Director at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Dr. Jared Robins said, “Northwestern Medicine (NM) is proud to partner with Alfardan Group to bring innovative and patient centric techniques to the region – I am especially proud of this procedure because as a fertility physician, I am excited that AMNM will be able to offer the same quality of fertility care we offer at NM in Chicago.”

As one of the leading academic medical centres in the US, NM provides high-quality and compassionate care, supported by research-based, advanced services and technologies for its patients.

Dr. Fender said: “We, at AMNM, are thrilled to bring such an innovative technique to Qatar.  This way of operating on the uterus is significantly less traumatic to the cervix and endometrial lining, allowing for enhanced recovery and an early return to a normal menstrual cycle and future pregnancy.”

Proactively creating a healthy environment for future fertility is an integral part of successful pregnancies. AMNM’s Reproductive Medicine & Gynaecology department provides a holistic experience in a transformative space which offers state-of-the-art individualized fertility treatment planning for couples struggling with infertility.

Reflecting on her medical experience at AMNM, the patient stated: “It was truly an amazing experience from start to finish and unlike anything I had experienced before with previous procedures. The team worked together seamlessly, and I woke up feeling great, and with exceptional pain management I was ready to go home.”

AMNM’s focus on patient centricity and service excellence nurtures personalized healthcare experiences for patients, reflecting the warmth and understanding of its expert team towards the needs and emotions that accompany infertility.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, AMNM’s Reproductive Medicine & Gynaecology speciality delivers both conventional and advanced treatment plans with unique protocols shared with NM in the US. Patients suited for conventional fertility treatments are provided with procedures such as Ovulation Induction, Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) and IVF.
