ADCB Says Services Fully Restored After Disruption; Customer Data Not Compromised

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB)

ABU DHABI - Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) says its banking services have been fully restored following a technology-related disruption that intermittently affected some digital services over the past week, and has assured customers that their data and account balances were never compromised.

In an update this week, one of the UAE’s largest lenders said its core systems had run without interruption for the past four days, even while absorbing record transaction volumes. The disruption, it said, was intermittent — lasting only a few hours on the affected days — and chiefly affected some customers’ ability to access the mobile banking app, particularly for payments and transfers.

No data or balances at risk, bank says

ADCB was emphatic that the incident did not touch customer information or money. It said no customer data or balance was ever put at risk during the disruption, that there were no inaccuracies in balances, and that “no compromise of customer information, and data integrity was preserved throughout.” The bank added that it takes full responsibility and accountability for resolving the matter completely, with its priority being to minimise disruption and ensure customer transactions continue to be processed.

What is — and isn’t — back

The bank said its core banking services, branches, ATM and cash deposit machine network, debit and credit card services and payment operations have all been fully available and stable, and that corporate and commercial banking channels remained operational throughout the episode. The one outstanding issue, it said, is a segment of retail “Aspire” customers still awaiting reinstatement of mobile app access; those customers have been encouraged to use internet banking via the ADCB website in the meantime, with full access to their accounts through other channels.

How the bank responded

ADCB said its teams worked around the clock to resolve the issue, supported by global technology experts and in coordination with its suppliers. During the disruption — which drew widespread attention across the UAE as customers reported trouble completing transactions — the bank rolled out contingency measures, including extended branch operating hours, to help affected customers.

A second disruption this year

The episode follows an earlier outage in March 2026, when ADCB’s digital banking and contact-centre operations were disrupted for around 48 hours amid a wider regional IT breakdown; at that time, too, branches, ATMs and web-based internet banking remained available, and the bank said no customer data, accounts or system security had been compromised. The recurrence underlines the operational importance of resilient digital infrastructure as UAE banks accelerate investment in cloud computing and digital-first services — and the rising customer expectation of uninterrupted access. ADCB, which serves retail, corporate and institutional customers nationwide, described itself as among the region’s most technologically advanced banks and reaffirmed its commitment to service reliability.
