The conference focuses on the technical and energy-related problems facing the electricity sector in the Arab world, through which it will be possible to identify common issues and benefit from the experiences of some countries in addressing the problems and reducing their economic effects. This will contribute to raising the performance of the electric systems technically by raising the reliability indicators while reducing the cost of producing, transporting, and supplying electricity to consumers.

The 7th General Conference of the General Union of Electricity will also discuss the future prospects of electricity in the Arab world, highlighting the common concerns of electricity companies and institutions, as well as outlining plans that are needed to face future difficulties and challenges.

In the presence of AUE Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eng. Abdel Rahim Hafidi, high-level Arab ministerial delegations led by ministers of electricity and energy will attend this edition of the conference.

The conference will be inaugrated by H E Eng. Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, and Eng. Issa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, President of Kahramaa.

The meetings of the 14th session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity and the 37th meeting of the Executive Office of the Arab Ministerial Council of Electricity will be held under the activities of the conference.  Addressing a press conference yesterday, Eng. Dr. Abdullah Mohsen Al Wahidi, Director of Shared Services Affairs at Kahramaa, and Chairman of the Conference Organising Committee from Kahrama, said: “General Conference of AUE, which is held once every three years, is the largest Arab gathering to discuss issues and challenges facing the electricity sector in the Arab region, and to explore prospects for joint Arab cooperation and action.”

He said that the conference provides a platform for gaining knowledge and sharing experiences through valuable scientific research papers presented and discussion sessions that bring together the most prominent Arab, regional and international governmental and non-governmental bodies concerned and a group of distinguished speakers.

Addressing the same press conference, Director Energy Department at Arab League, Ambassador Jamila Matar, said the most importance issues of discussion at the conference will be Arab common market for electricity at the 14th Arab Ministerial Council for Electricity, which has been on the agenda of the council for many years.

She said other issues will include transferring to renewable energy which was added to the agenda of the council recently. 

Other topics on the agenda include using wastes for producing electricity, electric vehicles and uses of green hydrogen, and desalinating of water with renewable emergency.  

An exhibition will also be held to showcase the latest developments in the electricity sector in which a number of institutions and entities concerned from Arab world will participate.

This edition is also characterised by holding an exhibition of electrical equipment and supplies for the production, transmission and distribution of electricity in the Arab countries in its tenth edition, and merging it with the main exhibition of the conference. 

The exhibition aims to develop and introduce this industrial sector, in the context of the continuous endeavour to support and encourage the local electrical industries in the Arab countries and develop their businesses.
