6 Technological Advancements in Air Conditioning

Air conditioning is one of those technologies that affects each and every one us every summer or whenever the temperature gets a bit too hot. We always turn to our AC units to help keep us cool when the temperatures soar. They keep us comfortable and ensure that we don’t face any kind of overheating or heat exhaustion. However, did you know that there are so many more technological advancements in air conditioning to come in the future? You are going to barely be able to recognize your air conditioning unit in the future when these advancements come to fruition. Keep reading down below to learn more about them.

1. Air Conditioning That’s Activated Solely by Movement : This is the kind of advancement that might seem a bit common sense when you first think about it. However, engineers have just come up with a way for your air conditioner to come on only when it senses movement in the room or the house. This means that your AC is not going to be running when nobody is home. This makes sense because why would you want to drive up your AC bill when you’re not even home to enjoy the cool air?

2. ACs That Are Thermal-Driven : This is one of the technologies of the future that’s seriously going to make AC units much more affordable. It’s going to take a while before this kind of technology comes over to the United States, but once it does, it’s going to seriously revolutionize air conditioning units. This type of AC unit is going to be powered by the sun and backed up by natural gas, making it an eco-friendly alternative to traditional air conditioners.

3. How About an Ice-Powered AC? : There’s actually a new type of air conditioning technology that allows AC units to be powered by ice – how incredible is that? Water is frozen in the tank overnight and that ice is then used to cool down a building or a home during the next day. It’s been shown that this type of cooling power can cool a building for up to 6 hours. After that, the air conditioning is going to kick in and provide the rest of the cooling power. This is seriously going to cut down on your need for AC repair in the future.

4. Geothermal Heat Pumps Are Going to Be All the Rage : Geothermal pumps for air conditioning units is not a new technology. This type of tech has been around for decades, but has only recently become popular in the mainstream. Heat pumps are going to carry heat straight from the Earth to heat your home and power your air conditioner in the summer. This is one of the most green and eco-friendly options you have for your air conditioning and power needs.

5. Of Course, Smart Homes Will Be Popular in The Future : One of the biggest trends in recent years and in the coming years is going to be smart homes. We are designing our homes to be more and more intelligent – just like our smartphones and computers. Everything in our homes is beginning to be connected to the Internet and with a touch of a button, we can start our coffee machine in the morning or have our air conditioner turn to the optimal temperature for our individual homes. This is one of the biggest technologies that’s going to affect air conditioning units in the coming years.

6. 3-D Printed ACs, Anyone : You never know what’s going to be over the edge of the horizon tomorrow and one of those things could be 3-D printed air conditioners. Now, this is something that’s a bit far-fetched, but 3-D printing has surprised everyone by how strong its advancement has been in recent years. 3-D printing has started to be used in some industries and throughout laboratories around the country.

There you have it! Air conditioning units are seriously going to be transformed by these technologies and by many more that aren’t on this list. Who knows what the future may bring?
