Abuja, October 5, 2026 : President of Nigeria Bola Ahmed Tinubu has confirmed that 32 people died following the crash of a Nigerian Air Force plane.
This came in a statement issued by the Office of the President, expressing condolences to the families of the 25 passengers and seven flight crew members who died.
Nigeria's Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, had said earlier that the aircraft lost communication with the air traffic control tower while en route to Lagos before crashing in the southwest of the country.
Keyamo said the plane went down near a naval base in the Igbukoda district of Ondo State. Its wreckage has been found, and search and rescue operations are ongoing.
