The Qatar Calendar House announced on June 6, 2024, that summer will officially begin on Friday, June 7, 2024. This period, known as 'Mrbaanya,' will extend for 39 days and is marked by a significant rise in temperatures and the longest days of the year.
During this time, the sun will reach its maximum height in the sky, leading to notably hotter conditions. The Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has also forecasted hot to very hot weather for the upcoming weekend, from June 6 to 8, 2024. Temperatures on Thursday are expected to peak at 42°C, with lows around 32°C.
The commencement of 'Mrbaanya' marks the actual onset of summer in Qatar, a period characterized by extreme heat and prolonged daylight. Residents and visitors are advised to prepare for the soaring temperatures and take necessary precautions to stay cool and hydrated.
